Travel – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.
– Ibn Battuta

There are 7.4 billion people in the world and over 190 countries. So many people to meet, places to explore – things to see.

I have traveled all over the world – experienced so many things. Every time I do – it changes me.

I taste, hear or see something new. I have surfed in Hawaii, I went down the canals of Venice in a gondola, I’ve heard the waves in Mexico. I have sat in a soccer stadium in Madrid – heard the screaming fans. I stood in front of the Mona Lisa in Paris.

There are so many other places I’ve been – too many to list.

There are so many benefits of travel.

You will get to see different people, places and experience different cultures.

It’s a time to escape your busy life, all the emails, calls and stress. A chance to refocus, regroup, re-energize and yes relax.

You’ll realize just how little you know about this big, amazing world we live in. I have been in Ottawa for most of my life – and I am always discovering new and beautiful places to explore.

For artists, travel is a source of inspiration.

Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals is a visionary and sets the trends. He has traveled all over the world and it has inspired his artistic vision.

I drew inspiration from lots and lots of travelling for this look, especially around the Far East.

Sonya Dove – is an amazing hair stylist.

As stylist we are inspired from colors. She drew inspiration from a series of photos Nicolas Troncin took while they were in Cuba.

What makes Eugene and Sonya great hair stylists? Their skills and training yes that’s for sure. But, what sets them apart from the rest is their artistic vision.

They don’t let the inspiration come to them – they go out and seek it.

So my advice to you again is travel as often as you can.

Travel with family, friends or alone.

Become a storyteller.

Don’t just talk about art from what you’ve read in a textbook, tell it through your experience. What you’ve seen and heard first hand.

It will help you grow. You will learn something about yourself and it will change your life.

Remember you only get one life. Live it.
