In my post Look Good, Feel Good, I wrote about how I help guests choose the right look. I’ve been a hair stylist for over 20 years – through experience and training – I know right away which hairstyle will suit my guest and compliment their facial features. But, I think it’s important for people to understand why a certain haircut will look good on them.
Over the next few weeks I will talk about some different faces shapes and which hairstyles will highlight the features and cover the flaws of each.
Oblong Faces: Your face is longer than it is wide – with proportionate cheeks, forehead and jawline.
You want to balance the proportions of your face and add the illusion of width. Some of the styles that will suit your face are: bold bangs, long bobs with volume at the sides or cuts with lots of layers.
Styling tip: Curls and waves will add width to your face and give your hair body.
Avoid styles that add length to your face – long/straight hair, anything that adds height to the crown of your head or cuts with no body/volume.
Famous oblong faces: Gisele Bündchen, Julia Roberts and Sarah Jessica Parker
