I deal with hair almost every day – it’s a big part of my life.

How it looks is one of the things in life we can control. I am always interested to hear how people feel about hair – how much time do they spend styling it, do they pay attention to trends or do they care about it at all?

In the Chair are interviews with people about hair – what they love about it and how much they pay attention to it. I think these features will be interesting, so many different points of view. Like I say – nothing is more beautiful than the diversity of humans.

How often do you change your hairstyle?
I get bored easily so I’m always up for changing my hair color. I’ve done red, dark brown, dark blonde, highlights, ombré. Color doesn’t scare me but cutting it really short – I’m not that brave.

Have you ever used a box color or tried to cut your own hair? And even though we know, did you try to hide it from your stylist?
My mother is a hairdresser by trade – she would kill me if I tried to box color. But yes I have tried to cut my hair. It was the bang cutting disaster. I discovered in that moment that hair dressing isn’t something that you inherit just because your mommy is a hairdresser.

I couldn’t even hide from my mom. As a result I now have a great collection of trucker style baseball caps.

What was your worst hair disaster?
When I begged my mom for a perm and insisted she cut it before she permed it. She told me it was a bad idea. But I was stubborn and wouldn’t listen to her. So she did exactly what I demanded – and it was horrible. I looked like an extra from the golden girls. It was a very teachable moment for me – always listen to your hairdresser and your mom. They know best.

How do you feel when you have a bad hair day?
It really affects my mood. I feel less confident and less outgoing. On those days – the baseball caps are my favourite accessory.

What is your favorite part of a salon visit?
Getting my hair washed and the head massage. It’s total bliss.

On average, how much time do you spend on your hair each day?
15-20 minutes. On those mornings where sleep overrules the desire to wash my hair – dry shampoo is my best friend.

Do you have any favorite hair products?
I’m a product junkie. I love trying products.

My favorite dry shampoo: Bed HeadRockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo by TIGI
Hair oil: OI/ ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFYING POTION

If you could have an celebrity’s hair – who would it be?
Oooooh I have so many celebrity hair crushes…..

My top 5:
Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts,  Jennifer Lopez

When I said the phrase beauty from the inside out, what does that mean to you?

For me it means that beauty radiates from the inside out. A positive attitude, confidence and compassion are the best accessories.

When you are happy and feel beautiful – people will notice that before all else.

If you had to use one word to describe they way you feel after a hair appointment, what would it be?
Rejuvenated.
